Cross Country donates Bus to police
A mass transit operator, Cross Country, donated a 10 seater bus to the police in Lagos state to enhance their logistics and improve on the security system in the state. The buses will be attached to Sabo Police.
A director of the company, Mr Soromekun Okiki, who made the presentation on behalf of the company at its Yaba head office, said the donation was in support of the state government’s efforts to make Lagos a crime free city.
A statement by the company, which was obtained on Monday, quoted the director as saying “it is a call to national notice as we need all hands on deck to ensure that our society is free of crime and criminal tendencies”.
The Chief of Lagos Security Trust Fund, Mr Fola Arthur Worrey, who received the bus, commended the transport company for its kind gesture and urged other transport firms and professional bodies to emulate the operator.
He appealed to Cross Country to assist in maintaining the vehicle, which he noted was as important as the donation.
Arthur Worrey disclosed that the government had also supported the security trust fund to the tune of N3bn. The Divisional Police Officer for Sabo, Mr Anthony Aruna pledged that the vehicle would be used strictly for the security purposes.
